Designated an historic landmark, the property comprises a 1908 mansion—formerly the home of “Sugar Baron” John D. Spreckels—and three contemporary, interconnected, two-story wings. Many of the mansion’s original fixtures remain, including marble stairs and brass banisters, ornate mouldings, and chandeliers. The restored Music Room features copper-clad glass doors, refinished hardwood floors, period furnishings, a guest library, and a baby-grand piano. The Music Room is also the departure point for regularly scheduled (Tues., Thurs., Sat.) 90-minute walking tours of Coronado. The Verandah Room, also the hotel lobby, sports an original porthole wall design, fitted with metal-framed picture windows. High-speed Internet access (first 30 minutes complimentary) is offered in the business center. Complimentary wireless Internet access (network cards not provided) is available in the Music Room, Verandah Room, and poolside. Additional amenities include an outdoor pool, spa tub, and guest laundry facilities. A complimentary Continental breakfast and afternoon refreshments are served daily (adjacent to the Music Room).
